#METIME

No rapper has been in more high demand than 2 Chainz in the past year and a half. This year so far 2 Chainz has been featured on chart-topping singles such as A$AP Rocky’s “Problems”, Juicy J’s “Bandz a Make Her Dance”, Young Jeezy’s “R.I.P.”, and Robin Thicke’s “Give It to You.” The year 2013 has been a busy year for Mr. Chainz. While 2 Chainz may be sought out for other artists’ projects, he also has been focused on the release of his sophomore sequel to his first album Based on a T.R.U. Story.

2 Chainz released his second solo album B.O.A.T.S. II #METIME earlier this week. The album’s leading single “Feds Watching” which was produced by and features vocals from Pharrell Williams. The album also features other artists such as Drake, Lil Wayne, Fergie, Rich Homie Quan, and T-Pain to just name a few.

On this album, the Atlanta MC delivers the clever punchlines and the exclamatory ad-libs (“2 CHAAIINNNZZ!!!”, “TRUUUUUUEE”, etc.) that the rapper is famous for. 2 Chainz delivers lines about throwing money in the club saying he would “make you and George Washington headbutt” on the song “Feds Watching”.
Aside from the clever punchlines in his album, 2 Chainz released a digital cookbook called #MEALTIME with his album. For this cookbook, 2 Chainz partnered with Atlanta-based Chef Aleem. According to 2 Chainz, he is “reaching into his deep, flavorful pockets to hook you up with recipes you’ll need for your time out on the road.”
Here are 10 of our favorite takeaways from 2 Chainz and Aleem on how to do mealtime like a true hip-hop star:
1.)   "Put on your Versace apron."
2.)   "If wearing a four-finger ring, carefully place it on a side table before starting to cook."
3.)   "Position yourself in a room surrounded by a handful of TVs playing 'Sports Center' with the sound off."
4.)   "Cook [teriyaki salmon] for 3 to 4 minutes while blasting 'Hit It With Fork' at an ignorant level."
5.)   "Call Fergie, invite her to watch a movie on Netflix. Once she accepts, start making green beans."
6.)   "Follow 2 Chainz and feel free to freestyle your cooking until you (and whoever's eating alongside you) enjoy it."
7.)   "Start 'U Da Realest' from the top and get into the right headspace to finish up the meal."
8.)   "Serve [garlic mashed potatoes] in gold bowl and garnish with remaining parsley."
9.)   "Plate chicken for yourself, sit at the head of your dining room table and eat the chicken while you sing along to 'Beautiful Pain.'"
10.) "Take a minute to celebrate yourself and celebrate the 'me time' you were able to spend    cooking these meals."

2 Chainz takes a different route than the usual trap beats the MC is known for. The song “Netflix” features Black Eyed Peas member Fergie. The female rapper/singer has not released any new solo or Black Eyed Peas material since 2010. A duet with one of the hottest rappers in the game is a definite rejuvenation for a solo career.
A personal favorite on this album is “Livin” featuring Bay Area rapper Iamsu. The song was produced by the up-and-coming production group League of Starz who also hail from the West Coast. The song contains a similar up-tempo beat like 2 Chainz’s song “I’m Different”. This song shows how popular the “ratchet” sound has become in 2013.

The beats, the sound, and the clever punchlines create a 2 Chainz single or album. B.O.A.T.S. II shows how 2 Chainz attempts to mold himself into a solid solo artist. While 2 Chainz may not have the lyricism of a Kendrick Lamar, he does have the ability to make a song you can sing along to. 2 Chainz also has serious songs about coming from the streets and friends lost on his rise to fame if you listen deep into his albums. 2 Chainz will have longevity in music because of this reason. 2 Chainz established himself as an artist long before going solo when he was with fellow Atlanta rapper Dolla Boy in the group Playas Circle. 2 Chainz, love him or hate him, will remain relevant in music for his quotable punchlines and catchy hooks.
