Looking Forward to Western Kentucky

Coming off a 45-0 victory over Austin Peay. Team 117 is already looking forward to their next opponent, Western Kentucky. Saturday’s game will be the second meeting between Tennessee and Western Kentucky. The Vols won the only previous meeting, a season-opening 63-7 on September 5, 2009.
“Moving forward with Western Kentucky, extremely, extremely talented football team. Knew that in the summer and everything has been confirmed by video evidence. A lot of NFL prospects and a lot of confidence,” said Head Coach Butch Jones.
Western Kentucky beat in-state rival Kentucky 35-26 last week. The game was the debut of the new Head Coach of the Hilltoppers, Bobby Petrino. Western Kentucky attacked Kentucky with a balanced offense, posting 216 total rushing yards and 217 passing yards. RB Antonio Andrews lead the team with 99 rushing yards. Second string RB Leon Allen was trailing behind with 92 rushing yards.
QB Brandon Doughty completed 27 of his 34 passes for a total of 271 yards. Doughty will pose a major threat to the young Volunteer secondary. The inexperience of the secondary stuck out to Coach Jones, “The thing that I wasn’t particularly fond of or we need to make great strides is our eye discipline. We had way too many what we call eye violations. You know peaking in the backfield, you know reading the eyes of the quarterback instead of see a little, see a lot.”
The game will be held at Neyland Stadium this Saturday at 12:21. Locally, the game will air on MyVLT2.
