The long awaited Grand Theft Auto V hit shelves on September
17th. With five years in development and a total of $265 million put
into production, Grand Theft Auto V gained a ton of fan hype. Day one sales
generated $800 million in revenue, making it the second bestselling Xbox 360
game so far.
Players re-visit the fictional state of San Andreas, last
seen in the 2004 release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The extensive map
can be explored by switching between three different characters: Franklin
Clinton, Michael De Santa and Trevor Philip. Each character stands out from any
other Grand Theft Auto protagonist before, creating a unique experience for
Grand Theft Auto fans.
Everything seemed re-vamped from previous installments of
the game. Seamless transitions from gameplay to cut scenes, enhanced battle
mechanics and overall better graphics set this game apart from its
predecessors. Grand Theft Auto IV introduced the use of a cellphone and Grand
Theft Auto V perfected it. Constant harassment and a messy interface of the
cellphone in Grand Theft Auto IV left players annoyed and disappointed with the
feature. However, Grand Theft Auto V addressed all these issues and enhanced
the feature.
The biggest change is the multiplayer feature, which lets
players participate in co-operative missions and challenges. Death matches and
racing are also available. Missions can be played at the players’ leisure much
like in the campaign. The multiplayer will be available on October 1st.
