Marvel VS DC

The Marvel Comics franchise has been in a long arms race with DC Comics for as long as we can remember. Marvel’s Iron Man released the third film in the series recently in May of 2013. In the next years they have started production for a new Captain America film, Thor film, Ant-Man film, new X-Men: First Class film and a TV Show spin-off called Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. After the acclaimed Avengers film came out it’s been rumored that two more Avengers, Ant-Man is one we know of, will be given films to prepare for the Avengers sequel. A spin-off for Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, is also been circulating the grapevine.

Director Joss Whedon know for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and working on multiple Marvel films has started the draft for the sequel to his block buster hit Avengers. It’s set to come to theaters on May 1st, 2015 so remember to save the date. Whedon raised the bar for other directors and their superheroes with the Avengers becoming such a great hit.

On the other end of the comic book universe DC Comics has been just as busy at working on creating more films. With The Dark Knight Rises being such a cinematic hit with beloved Batman, Christian Bale, being recast has been an issue with many fans. Upcoming Batman, Ben Affleck, set to play a more experienced and mature Batman with a few years added to him. The film has been rumored to be a Batman VS Superman movie because of the great success of Man of Steel with a sequel in development. There’s the possibility of Ryan Reynolds returning for a second Green Lantern movie. How else will DC retaliate to keep up with Marvel’s successes?
