The long awaited sequel to Dark Souls hits North America
March 11, 2014. For those new to the title, Dark Souls is an action
role-playing game set in the fictional Kingdom of Lordan. The player steps into the
role of an undead that has been chosen to make a pilgrimage. Known for its difficulty and its engaging
online features, Dark Souls was well received by critics.
Although little is known about Dark Souls II’s storyline, it has
been revealed that it will somehow be linked to the first game. The game will
still revolve around a cursed character seeking a cure for his agony. However,
concern for change in the game’s online features sparked in the Dark Souls
community when the sequel was announcde.
In an interview with Official Xbox Magazine, game producer
Takeshi Miyazoe said, "We still
have yet to reveal a lot of the enhancements, but the core elements of the
network play in Dark Souls, such as summoning other players, Covenants that
help or interrupt other players, will carry over to Dark Souls 2," Miyazoe
told OXM.
"Our dev team's goal is to enhance some of these elements even further, so
that you still have that loose connection--how you interact with other players
will be an enhanced experience, a new experience."
"It's the
sharing of emotions, the sharing of the loneliness with other people, so that
you get that faint sense of comfort when you feel that another player's facing
the same difficulties in the game, but without being able to have direct
contact." He explained about the feel of the game’s online feature.
