Apocalypse

One of the most prevalent topics in today’s society is that of an impending apocalypse. Whether it is the Biblical Rapture or something else, nearly everyone seems to think that world is quickly coming to an end.
The word Apocalypse translates literally from Greek, and means; a disclosure of knowledge or lifting the veil of recognition. However, this sense of the word did not enter the English language until the early 14th century. In a religious setting it is often considered to be the disclosure of something hidden. There are many other meanings for the word, and the Webster Dictionary defines it as, “a great disaster: a sudden and very bad event that causes much fear, loss, or destruction.”
There are theories on top of theories about the end of time, but probably the most talked about and favored is that of a zombie apocalypse. Shows like The Walking Dead and movies like Dawn of the Dead are just fanning the flames. Zombies are easily one of the biggest fads in today’s society, with even Video Games such as Call Of Duty getting in on the brain-eating action.

Every day more and more people are hopping on the zombie bandwagon and preparing for the inevitable Zombie outbreak. People are hoarding food and building shelters, hoping to be prepared for the event. It is a world-wide epidemic, but mostly concentrated in the U.S. Just another statistic proving that The United States is in the bottom percentile of countries in education, and intelligence.
