Roses

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Roses in have been put on a pedestal for being especially beautiful.
There are festivals worldwide celebrating roses. The Kutno Rose Festival in Kutno, Poland takes place in the first week of September. Florists from all over Europe come to arrange flowers. Another festival that takes place in Portland, the Portland Rose Festival, is celebrated for its strides in promoting environmentalism.
Artists often use different styles of painting to convey a rose’s beauty. From tapestries to oil canvas paintings roses are a symbol that is recognized around the world. British artist Tomas Lawrence (1769-1830) painted a portrait of Catherine Gray, Lady Manners. Austrian painter, Joseph Nigg (Vienna 1782 – Vienna 1863) worked in a porcelain factory. His work has been featured at the London World Exhibition.

Roses inspire people to make beautiful art and to fill pages trying to describe them.
