On Tuesday morning in Blount County, a woman was
pulled over by a fake deputy. She told officials that she was driving when a
vehicle started following her. The driver then turned on a blue light on the
dashboard. The woman pulled over, and the driver got out. He asked her a series
of questions, never once identifying himself.
During the time in which the woman was pulled over,
there were no traffic stops reported in that area of Blount County. “The woman
described the man as having a medium build, brown/grey hair, wearing black
clothing and a gray coat.”(WBIR)
The sheriff of Blount County said that all deputies
will identify themselves and present their badges during a traffic stop. He
also said that if you doubt the legitimacy of a deputy or traffic stop, you
should call 911 and ask. It is also a good idea to pull over in a safe and
public place. The sheriff’s office has asked that if anyone is to come in
contact with this man that they call the office immediately.
