The remake of My Bloody Valentine made its way into theaters in January of 2009,
just a month before Valentines Day in time to strike fear into all the lover’s
hearts in the audience. The movie is based around collapsed mine survivor Harry
Warden who goes into a coma and becomes accused of killing the others who died
in the mine. All of this happens on Valentine’s day which is a big holiday in
the small town, Harmony and is still remembered a year later when Harry wakes
up from a coma.
The
town celebrates Valentine’s day with a town party which is just good old
fashioned fun festivities. When Harry realizes that the town that proclaimed
him to be a murderer is still celebrating the holiday that put him in a coma he
begins killing at random. He threatens to do it again if they continue
celebrating the holiday, and for years they stop.
Ten
years later the town thinks it might be time to recover from the “Valentines
Day Massacre” and begin celebrating this holiday again. On Valentines Day
before the dance, people closely related to the ordeal begin to die at random. The film then focuses in on a group of three
friends who were at the mine the night Harry picked off people one by one. One
of the friends, Tom, was left behind to die by his friends and leaves town
after escaping Harry’s vengeance. He returns to the town to find his
girlfriend, Sarah is now married to his said best friend, Axel. The two are
surprised at his return and the fact that he is still alive. Tom has returned
just in time for the festivities, though it seems so has Harry Warden.
