From the beginning
of South Doyle High School, the rival school has been Seymour High School. On September
4, 2014, the girl’s soccer team beat Seymour with a score of 3-0 with a performance
of the defense, midfield and offense. With another shutout under her belt,
goalkeeper senior Layla Mosadegh is one step closer to having the most shutouts
in a season. Alongside was her great defense including a textbook performance
by sophomore Lira Mathes as her center defender. In the midfield and at the
core of the team were junior Bailey Gale, senior Annie Reed, and sophomores
Chloe Rummel and Cara Browning. The starting forwards included junior Amy
Browning and sophomore Cameron Gale who did a spectacular job.
Right
off the start, the girls were working hard to score. Their hard work paid off
when Reed scored within the first five minutes off of a ricochet. The second
goal was scored by Gale in the first half by a ricochet once again. The last
goal scored to complete the three was by Browning in the final 5 minutes. With
this display of soccer playing, the
South Doyle girl’s soccer team may have a future of being state champions. This
game could serve as the catalyst for South Doyle’s girl’s soccer reputation.
