Dear Lucy,
How do you get out
of the friendzone?
-Forever
in the friendzone
Dear Forever in
the friend zone,
First off, I have to ask, are you
willing to risk your friendship to get out of the friendzone? I know nothing
about your situation or relationship with this person, but having a friend of
the opposite gender is in fact a wonderful thing. You may feel like there is
real chemistry between you two but think about what the relationship would be
like if things did not work out. This is not saying you couldn’t go back to
being friends but it may create some awkwardness. If your heart is set on
trying to get out of the friendzone, then simply tell your friend how you feel;
that is really your only choice if you want to risk it and try things out. It
may not be the reaction you want, but just remember just being friends with
someone is better than nothing.
Best of luck!

Dear Lucy,
I’m
a senior in a gym class full of underclassmen. I hate that I’m not with any of
my friends and I feel like this class will be miserable. How can I make it
through the semester?
-Gym
class hero
Dear gym class hero,
That
is really unfortunate that you don’t have any of your friends in your class,
but this may be the perfect opportunity to branch out and make new friends. Now
making new friends isn’t for everyone, but it doesn’t hurt to try. You may like
the friendships you develop with the underclassmen in your class. It’s nice to
have friends outside of your normal friend group. Developing a relationship
with the younger kids also provides you with a strong sense of leadership
skills. Be open to what they want to ask you about, whether it be your opinion
on the game of the day or just about your senior year. Don’t be afraid to mix
your senior friends with your underclassmen friends either. Take interest in
the younger kids and they will do the same with you.
Have a good semester! –Lucy
