Final Fantasy;
This series hit North American shelves in 1990. It has been
a staple in the video game world for nearly 26 years. Final Fantasy has appealed to gamers since the
Nintendo. Since then, fans are allowed the chance to indulge themselves in the
adventures of loveable characters and explore fantastic worlds. This type of
JRPG continuously appeals to gamers.
Legend of Zelda;
These games are bound to cause some nostalgia in most
gamers. The series has been in North
America since 1987. Though the concept of stepping into the shoes of a hero,
rescuing a princess and saving the world from destruction are prevalent in
every Zelda game, the franchise has been alive for 26 years.
Street Fighter;
This fighting game hit arcades and released fans’ inner
street fighter in 1987. Since then, Street Fighter has put out over 27 games.
Fans flock to the violent fighting game whether it’s to virtually beat up their
friends or to show off their skill in championships.
Mario;
Everyone’s favorite Italian plumber made his debut in 1981
and has since become one of Nintendo’s biggest titles. Since his first
appearance in Donkey Kong, Mario has been saving the princess and the Mushroom
Kingdom. He is Nintendo’s mascot and has made cameos in over 71 games.
Pokemon;
Next to Mario, Pokemon remains Nintendo’s best selling
franchise since 1996. From the TV show
to the games, Pokemon is still dear to the hearts of many who grew up with it.
The idea of fighting and capturing Pokemon is still a popular notion among
gamers.
Grand Theft Auto;
Grand Theft Auto has been known for its graphic violence,
Easter eggs and its varied criminal missions since 1997. Though it started with
2D, aerial view graphics, Grand Theft Auto continually releases cutting edge
games with amazing graphics.
Need for Speed;
This fast-paced racing game has been out since 1994 and
fulfilling the needs of every gamers’ inner street racer. The latest release
came out in 2012 under the title Need For Speed: Most Wanted. A new game Need
For Speed: Rivals is set for a 2013 release.
Sims;
The Sims made its way onto the scene in 2000 and captured
the hearts of casual and hardcore gamers alike. The success of The
Sims resulted in Guinness World Records awarding the series five world
records.
Tomb Raider;
Lara Croft broke into the gaming world in 1996. Since then
Tomb Raider has released over 10 games. Tomb Raider’s leading lady, Lara Croft
has seen much success for almost 17 years. She is the third most iconic video
game character behind Mario and Sonic.
