Trystan Hurst
One of my all time favorite horror movies was the Scream trilogy. The Scream movies were a trilogy until 2011, when Scream 4 was released into theaters. These movies aren’t remakes but the fourth
film was released 11 years after the third film, sparking fans interest. Fans
were skeptical of the fourth film being released with basically a whole new
cast. The third film released in 2000, leaves off with Sidney being stalked by
yet another killer hiding behind a ghost mask, or better known as “Ghost
face”. The third film was based on the
killings happening while a movie called “Stab 3” was being filmed about Sidney
Prescott, the main characters life.
The fourth film picks up ten years later, after Sidney has
picked up the pieces of her life and put them back together. Sidney has written
a book about her escape from a masked murderer, and gone on a book tour. The
last stop on her book tour is her hometown, Woodsboro, where all the murders of
her friends happened. Sidney stays with her only remaining family, an aunt and
a cousin. Her cousin is skeptical of her arrival because her friends call
Sidney “The Angel of Death”. As predicted, upon her return the murders start
right back up again. Once again, the masked murderer is someone close to her. The
fourth film follows a new generation, with social media and smart phones. Same
plot, new characters and ideas.
