As it is Teacher Appreciation Week, I would
like to thank one of my favorite teachers for being there for me. Ms. Wheatley,
better known as Madame; you’re an amazing French teacher and person. I have
always admired the French culture and I couldn’t imagine going through a French
class without you as my teacher. You made learning the language more fun than I
could have imagined, the movies, videos and activities made it incredibly
enjoyable. French 1 was my first real taste of the French culture and I fell
even more in love with it. The moment you started your story of your latest
trip to France, I knew I had to go. Now
I am employed and saving money for the upcoming trip, hoping and praying I save
up enough to go. But you are not only a great teacher but a wonderful person
Madame. I technically don’t have you as a teacher this year and I still feel as
if I can tell you anything, and I know it’s odd because you are a teacher. But
whenever I’m having a bad day, I know I can come into your classroom and you
will listen to me and give me advice about whatever is bothering me. I feel as if I annoy you because I am a needy
teenage girl but despite that you still listen. I cannot begin to tell you how
much I appreciate all you have done for me in the one-year I have known you. I
know I can come to you with anything and you won’t judge me, you’ll be there
for me. I know you are an adult and you’ve gone through much more in your life
than I have in my 16 years, but I will always be there for you as much as you there
are for me. I don’t deserve a teacher, let alone anyone to be there for me like
you are. It may not seem like much to you, but I really appreciate that. And I
just want you to know that I can’t thank you enough Madame. I know I’m just a
little Junior, but I will be graduating before I know it and I will always
remember sitting in your class laughing at your jokes and enjoying the French
language. You have made me broaden my dreams, and find more of who I want to
be. I eventually want to make my way to France, with enough knowledge of the
language to live there and that’s because of you. Thank you Madame.
Sincerely,
Trystan Hurst
I am now completely boo-hooing all over the place. Je t'aime beaucoup! I will always be there for you, no matter if you are 21 (many times over) or 101. I never planned to become a French teacher, but having a student like you makes me remember why I do what I do...and how I can be myself and have the opportunity to become a part of all of your lives. Teaching is not a job or a profession so much as it is truly a calling...I am humbled and honored to have been chosen to answer the call.
ReplyDeleteWhile I have bad days, the good ones make it worth being a teacher. I cannot believe that I get paid to talk about what I love so much and get to show you guys my world. I hope that you will be able to go with us to France and Monaco this coming summer, but always know that one day you will get there. It took me 31 (uh, 21...cough, cough) years to come face to face with a country I had loved from afar, but I made it and so will you!
Bises,
Madame
I am glad you became a French teacher because if not I would not have been able to have the opportunity to learn the language as well as I did, or know you. And I do hope I make it there! You're amazing Madame, and teaching is definitely a calling for you. Teaching is perfect for you.
