Local Hiking

Hiking in Knoxville can be boring if you go to the same place every time. Thankfully, there are tons of places to hike in and around Knoxville.
Ijams Nature Center is just a few miles from downtown Knoxville, but it still has miles of trails that stretch out beside the river and around a quarry. If you follow the bike trails to the end of the paved path, there are several paths that branch off into fabulous hiking trails. Victor Ashe Park has a one and a half mile loop that isn’t just for hiking. Frisbee and soccer are great activities for Victor Ashe. Melton Hill Trails is a lakeside park that is often used for cross-country meets since it has a varying landscape perfect for testing how well you can climb hills. Because of their steep sides, walking up these hills can be just as rewarding as running. Cades Cove might be one of the best hiking spots in Tennessee. Surrounded by mountains this ten-mile loop is full of deer, horses, and even the occasional bear.
With so many hiking spots locally available there’s no excuse to get out there. Hiking lets you see the beautiful side of nature and get exercise at the same time.
