Sticky notes:
Always have a spare sticky note on your Dash! Your teacher
might give you a last minute homework assignment or you may need to quickly
type up a few quick notes while you’re leaving class. It’s always helpful to be
able to jot down a quick note to yourself so you can stay organized!
Name Your Files Correctly:
It’s tempting to name your English notes: “asdfghj” or
“jkjadklnasd” and tell yourself that you’ll go back and change it later only to
never return and end up with a folder that looks like this:
It happens to the best of us, but don’t let it happen to
you. Naming your files properly can save you a lot of time sifting through
endless files looking for important notes.
Spotlight:
While you may be tempted to make folder upon folder upon
folder to store your photos and videos, Mac makes it easy for you to find a
document just by typing in the name on Spotlight. Don’t use this an excuse to
get lazy, you still need to be able to remember what you named your document.
Don’t Store Things On Your Desktop:
Seriously. A cluttered desktop leads to a cluttered mind. On
Macs, you don’t need to store programs, files or shortcuts on your desktop. The
dock holds most of your important programs and Spotlight can help you quickly
access your files. Use your desktop for files that need to be accessed right
away, but make sure you tuck it away once you’re done with it.
Clean Up Your Downloads:
It’s easy to just Download a bunch of stuff you
need for class and simply leave it in your Downloads folder. Try making a habit
of downloading a file and then bringing it into its corresponding folder. Even
if you do make use of Spotlight, organizing your files is still somewhat
important. Unless you take the time to rename and remember the names of all the
files you download, you may not be able to type in the name and find your file.
Instead, put all your downloads in their corresponding folders so you can
simply scroll through and find what you need without sifting through hundreds
of randomly downloadeKara Melvin
