Ask Lucy and Lauren

Dear Lucy,

My prom is coming up soon and we're kind of tight on money right now. My dress wasn't too expensive but it's really going to add up after I buy my shoes, jewelry, and my ticket. I really don't want to spend a bunch of money getting my hair and makeup done. What could I do to keep it cheap?

                        -Panicing about prom

Dear Panicing about prom,

First off, don't panic! Prom isn't meant to be stressful, it's meant to be fun. Girls have a lot more to worry about for prom then guys do and it does get very expensive. If you're tight on money there's always the option of doing your own hair and makeup. If you don't feel comfortable doing that or you don't know what you're doing, there are several tutorials on YouTube you can watch to get ideas. If you really aren't gifted in that area then you could always ask a friend to help you out or even a cousin or sibling. Ask around at school and see where people are going and how much they are paying. A lot of the time if you know someone personally they will give you a discount or maybe even do it for free! I hope this helps you!
                                                                                                Have fun at prom!

Dear Lucy,

Recently my two best friends have been hanging out a lot more then usual and I think they've started to develop feelings for each other. I'm worried if this is the case I'll lose both of their friendships and I don't want that. I obviously want them both to be happy but the thought of being forgotten about terrifies me. Should I tell them how I feel or just suck it up and find other friends?

                        -Don't forget Fara

Dear Fara,

I've been in the situation before where two of my best friends like each other and it can be the most miserable feeling but that feeling doesn't last forever; I promise. If you feel close enough to both of them then I would definitely let them know how you're feeling. You may want to confront them separately to avoid any arguing. Honestly, if they're truly your friends they won't leave you out or forget about you. If that were to happen, then that's a sign you need to find some new friends. Just be encouraging of them and voice how you feel. That's all you can do at this point. I hope this helps!

                                                                                                Best of luck to you!
                                                                                                                                    -Lucy
