Senior Night has Come
and Gone
On April 29, 2014,
the senior baseball players had to play their last home game on the South Doyle
High School baseball field. Playing against Jefferson County, the boys pulled
out a strong win for the seniors to leave with. The final score being 5-1, all
the seniors were very excited but gloomy with the win. Every single teammate played their absolute
best to send the seniors off with a victory. Since it was the last game for the
boys, every senior was recognized prior to the game. Connor Gregory, Blake
Stansberry, and Riley Dyer were the only three seniors on the team this year.
Each one of these young men has played all four years of high school baseball.
Practically being brothers, each one was depressed to be playing their last
game together ever.
Senior Connor
Gregory mentions, “ The last home game was so bitter sweet for all of us.”
Gregory went out
with a bang when the night before senior night, they played Bearden and he hit
a 3 run homerun to help the team win the game 18-6. Junior Brody Rollins says
he learned one most important thing from the seniors, “Play like you have an
apple in your shoe.” This is one quote every single player on the baseball team
says but no one else understands. Being a family is something the senior boys
accomplished this year because no matter where one of the teammates is at,
there is always another one with them. Going out with a great record, the
senior boys are depressed but happy at the same time due to graduating. Senior
night was a success for the South Doyle baseball team, especially the seniors. Leaving
with a high record and with a respected name, the boys are ready to start their
future life.
