This year’s football team for South-Doyle
High School has gotten a major amount of positive reviews for the upcoming 2014
season. The team has gotten multiple positive outlooks so far, including Prepxtra’s
preseason top 10 for the first time.
When senior Harley Wheeler was asked
about all the good reviews about the team he replied, “I’m proud of what we
have accomplished from the past two years. We can only go up.”
The 2014 football team for South-Doyle
has won scrimmages this preseason including a 27-7 win against Central on
August 21st. On August 14th they played Oak Ridge and
defeated them 34-19. Also South-Doyle had a win against Bearden on August 8th
with a final score of 41-0.
“The underclassmen give good looks to the
upperclassmen on the team, especially during plays,” said Wheeler.
This season’s seniors like Harley
Wheeler, Joc Bruce, Malik Lundy, and Brody Rollins, are a huge part of the
team, and next season will be a loss without them. When Wheeler was asked about
how he feels about this season being his last year playing for South-Doyle and
he said, “It’s bittersweet, I’m gonna miss everything about it, and also going
to miss being here.” This season will be a great one and shouldn’t be missed!
