August 14th and 15th,
last Thursday and Friday, football started back with the Knoxville Orthopedic
Clinic’s Kickoff Classic jamboree. Instead of UT hosting the event this year,
it was split up between two nights and two schools- Central and Bearden.
On
Thursday at Central High School, five games were held. The first game was Kings Academy vs.
Tennessee School for the Deaf, with Kings winning 27-6. The next game was Carter
vs. Campbell County, and Carter won with the final score 8-0. When Gibbs played
West, the score ended up tied at 0-0. In the game of Webb vs. Central, Central
won by one with a score of 7-6. In the final game, Fulton played Hardin Valley,
and won 14-0.
On
Friday at Bearden, Austin-East played Halls and won 12-0. When South-Doyle played Catholic, the score
tied at 7-7, with South-Doyle scoring in the final minutes. The next game was
Lenoir City vs. Karns, with Karns coming out on top with a score of 7-0. In the
game of Powell vs. Bearden, Powell beat the home team with a score of 21-0. The
concluding game of the jamboree was Farragut vs. Anderson County, and Farragut
ended the night right with a score of 7-2.
