Ellen Ferro, 21, was murdered in
her Massachusetts home forty years ago. The case had
been cold until DNA evidence came to light and the case became an active
prosecution. On Tuesday Georgia man, Lonzo Guthrie, 69, was arrested under the
suspicion of the murder. The suspect Guthrie had a job at Ferro’s house the day
before the murder and was under no suspicion for the murder.
Investigators resubmitted the DNA
evidence to from the Ferro case to re-evaluate for traces of DNA. Coincidentally
Guthrie violated his parole in Los Angeles having to give DNA samples. The two
DNA samples matched up breaking the four-decade-old case. Guthrie was arrested in Douglas County,
Georgia.
