Comics to the TV Screen

Lately, comic-based movies have been dominating the industry, and now TV has begun to try their hand at it. For example, a variety of Marvel and DC comics have been chosen and modified for television rather than the original paper print. Different broadcasting channels such as the CW, FOX, and ABC have been screening the new comic inspired TV shows.

New

1.) Gotham

-       Gotham is considered the prequel before the rise of Batman in Gotham, and the show can be found on the FOX network. The story follows that of a young Bruce Wayne after the murder of his parents and of the youthful and newly recruited Detective Gordon. The show will also show the slow development of the known criminals Penguin, Cat woman, Riddler, Joker, Poison Ivy, etc. Gordon’s first case, the Wayne murders, will lead to an unlikely friendship that will change the fate of Gotham forever.

2.) The Flash

-       The Flash is a fast approaching show coming soon to the CW on October 7. The story will branch off from the other known CW program, Arrow, which depicts the life of wealthy Oliver Queen, and his crime fighting escapades. The Flash will illustrate the adventures and trials of main character Barry Allen a.k.a the “scarlet speedster”. At the start of the story, Allen is a socially awkward scientist who gets struck by lightning due to an accelerator malfunction. Using his superhuman powers, Allen vows to protect his home, Central City, and all the trouble that comes with the job.

Old & Returning

1.) Arrow

- Arrow is an acknowledged TV show on the CW network based off of DC comics popular Green Arrow. The show began in October of 2012 and has been renewed for its third season this October. Since its creation it has become a popular show for comic fans. After a shipwreck, billionaire, Oliver Queen was considered dead and lost at sea. He was found five years later on a remote island in the Pacific. After returning home to Starling City, he sheds his old self and takes on the persona of the Green Arrow. Arrow is a tale about strength and betrayal in the oddest places.

2.) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

- Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is a Marvel based show launched in 2013 on the ABC network, detailing the trials of S.H.I.E.L.D agents in a world filled with superheroes. The tale of Phil Coulson, main agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, is told in greater detail compared to his roles in movies such as Ironman, Thor, and The Avengers. The show has been renewed for its second season and has recently returned to the TV screen.
